Burj Khalifa

If you keep up-to-date with modern architecture then the chances are that you have heard of the Burj Khalifa. This undoubtedly impressive building is the current world’s tallest structure and has turned many people’s heads with its jaw-dropping design. Built in Dubai, the building stands far above the surrounding skyscrapers and certainly makes its presence known. In terms of the figures that tower stands at 2,717 feet tall and has 163 floors. This kind of height is groundbreaking for a modern building and makes it one of the most impressive structures the world has ever seen. So, what is the second tallest building?


Shanghai Tower

The Shanghai development was first started in 1997 and had many funding issues throughout our construction. Though, when it finally reached its completion it was officially the second-tallest building in the world and certainly one of the most impressive structures ever built. The building was finished in 2015 and features 128 floors. As for its official height, it stands at a staggering 2,073 feet. The design of the Shanghai Tower really does make it stand out in the city and it is unquestionably the most prominent building on the city's skyline.


Abraj Al-Bait Clock Tower

This is arguably the most interesting building on this list as it is not your typical skyscraper. Instead of the modern, glass-fronted structures which we are well used to this building has a very different design. There are no large glass panels and the structure takes a lot of influence from older more traditional buildings. The clock tower is 1,972 feet tall which is unquestionably impressive. Though the structure is shrouded in a touch of controversy as it was built on the land of an ancient fortress.
